Romney of First Debate Must Return for Finale

Governor Romney needs to drag President Obama back to the Rose Garden on Sep. 12, 2012, and pound on the president for not defining the Benghazi attack as an act of terrorism. Then expand that into "this guy is a dangerous amateur on foreign policy, especially in the Middle East."

If Romney does not win the entire debate by a knockout, he at least needs a knockdown, he needs to put Obama on the canvas, on this issue.

There is no question that the Obama administration was selling the Benghazi attack as a version of the Rodney King riot in 1992, a protest over a video that got out of hand and spontaneously morphed into mob violence. The Obama administration totally misread the situation and misrepresented it to the American people.

Romney must establish this as the basis for the claim that the Obama administration is not connected to reality in its approach to foreign policy. Obama had no idea what was going on in Benghazi and has no idea what's going on in general in the Middle East. The president and his people do not understand our adversaries and are inadequate in dealing with them.

It's a handy sound bite to say "Mubarak must go" or "Gadhafi must go," although it's amazing to see the passionate anti-colonialist go imperial, with the encouragement of lefties, deciding which foreign leaders are allowed to remain in power. But Obama clearly had no idea what was coming next.

I'm not a defender of Mubarak or Gadhafi, but while they were in power our embassies were not being overrun by angry mobs and our people weren't being killed.

And when Obama brings up bin Laden, I want Romney to reply, "You didn't build that."
