October Surprise Arrives

This time it came from within an incumbent president's administration.

The Watergate question is back: What did you know and when did you know it?

As you can see from my posts in recent days, I was disappointed in Governor Romney for not hammering President Obama harder on the misinterpretation and misrepresentation of the Benghazi terrorist attack.

Now leaked emails from the State Department indicate that the Obama administration knew in real time that the Benghazi attack was not a protest that unexpectedly turned violent, but rather an armed assault.

A State Department email time-stamped Sep. 11, 2012, 4:05 p.m. says in the subject line: "U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi Under Attack." The body of the message says: "The Regional Security Officer reports the diplomatic mission is under attack. Embassy Tripoli reports approximately 20 armed people fired shots; explosions have been heard as well."

Explosions were heard because some of the terrorists attackers had rocket-propelled grenade launchers.

A few hours later a terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack. A few days later that group renounced that claim, but video cameras and other evidence confirmed that it was an armed terrorist assault to commemorate 9/11.

This in a country where America supposedly is a hero for helping to "liberate" Libya from a dictator and opening the way for democracy. Instead we have unleashed a wave of Islamic extremism that is hostile, and now lethal, to America and Americans.

That must be why the president tried to hide it with a fairy tale about a video and a protest.
