Palin Derangement Syndrome

It's an offshoot of McCain Derangement Syndrome, a condition diagnosed by McCain supporter Michael Medved when McCain started to separate from the pack and take control of the Republican nomination.

The difference here, of course, is that it's people on the left who are getting ill over Sarah Palin running for vice president.

As someone who believes the main political battle line is between elites and populists rather than liberals and conservatives or Democrats and Republicans, I am loving the way this campaign is shaping up.

I've never believed a vice presidential nominee made much difference, but in connection with Maverick McCain, Palin might make more of a difference than usual. The populist non-Washington majority finally has a candidate in this race.

Meanwhile, we're finding out that a lot of women who said they supported female nominees in previous elections because of gender really were supporting them because they were liberal.
