Palin Cartoon Wars

Cartoonists on the left seem to be auditioning for "Mad Men," the cable TV series that I have never watched but I understand celebrates the male chauvinism of a previous generation. Meanwhile, my friend Mike Mapes e-mailed me some cartoons favorable to Sarah Palin.

I can't figure out how to get them into this blog, but Click here to sample some of the better cartoons.

Governor Palin did really well in her interview with surprise since he's a major supporter. With the $1 trillion financial system bailout racing to enactment, one can only hope that the liberal media keeps attacking Palin since that backfires each and every time. We might as well elect Obama now since we've lost all pretense of being a capitalist nation. I keep hearing about the bailout being made due to bad mortgages. In reality, it's being made to unwind the bulk of that trillion dollars in credit default swap derivative contracts. Those are the instruments that allowed portfolios of mortgage backed securities to be highly leveraged. As those securities lost value...and institutional holders credit ratings began to sag due to required asset writedowns...all those swaps began to be triggered. That's where all the capital disappeared to...paying off counterparties. The institutions on the wrong side of those swaps were leveraged up to 30 to 1 and their cash evaporated causing their stocks to plunge, etc. If you aren't carrying lots of debt or don't use lots of credit, you are going to be punished by paying for everyone else who has or will.
