Learn from Palin: Don't Conform

John McCain should have stuck to his original statement on the economy.

When the worst of the financial news was breaking a week or so ago, McCain said the "fundamentals" of the economy were strong.

Barack Obama and others jumped all over McCain, basically calling him the Herbert Hoover of the 21st century. McCain scrambled and hedged and said he was referring to "the people" as the fundamental building blocks of the economy, not actual economic factors.

McCain should show contempt for the Chicken Littles saying we're sliding into this century's Great Depression. Remind the public that the Chicken Littles making the most noise -- Obama and Chris Dodd, for instance -- are the people most responsible for creating the crisis. I don't want to be lectured by them on how to handle the crisis.
